Visiting the Nixon Library & Birthplace

On Sunday I went to a BBQ at my uncle's niece’s house in Placentia (yeah for extended, extended family!) and since I was up in the area, I checked out the Nixon Presidential Library & Birthplace in Yorba Linda. Politics aside, the museum was interesting, his birthplace was quaint, and the gardens and reflecting pool were beautiful. I only had 1 1/2 hours to spend there, so I'll have to go back sometime to see the inside of his birthplace and explore the museum in more detail.

Floral Design

Here are pictures of my most recent floral design projects. I'm taking a floral design class at Saddleback Community College this semester and I LOVE it! The first two pictures are orchid corsages, the next two are round arrangements, and then the last picture is my rose arrangement from last night.

House Decorations!

Oh I am so excited! I have accomplished one of my new year's resolutions and finally, after 3 1/2 years, put some pictures and artwork up on the walls of my condo. Check out my work from last weekend:

Free

And that's all I have to say about that.

Sell! Sell! Sell!

I had a successful week on Craig's List last week. I sold a pair of Coach eyeglasses that had been sitting in my bathroom cupboard for the past two years, unused since my LASIK surgery. AND, I finally sold the rest of my laminate flooring and baseboards from when I redid the floors in my condo two years ago. The extra money is nice and the freed up space in my garage is nice too!

Now I'm trying to sell an old pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses, a bridesmaid dress from my cousin's wedding, my desktop computer (and eventually the IKEA desk it is sitting on), and a red Coach wallet.

I've got some great ideas for decorating my house--for some reason, I've suddenly been inspired, and the small amount of money I make from selling my unused items will go towards my decorating fund. I'm so excited about my house decorations--look for pictures as I decorate!

Piece of the Pie

I don't want to say too much about this good thing, but I do want to note and remember it. My company was just bought out by a major eyecare insurance giant and we were merged with one of their subsidary companies (which is actually all good and exciting!) and our old owners were kind enough to give us a small piece of the buyout pie. Taxes make the pie only slightly less tasty. Nonetheless, it is still sweet enough for me!

Labor Day in Colorado

I just returned from a wonderful Labor Day weekend in Colorado with my sister and Mom. We ate so much good food, hiked to Horsetooth Rock in Fort Collins, rode on all of the Fort Collins bike trails, saw family at The Taste of Colorado in Denver, shopped all over, hiked to Rocky Mountain lakes and waterfalls near Breckenridge, and just had an all-around awesome time together!

Golden Birthday

On August 28th, 2008, I turned 28. I was able to celebrate with my Mom and sister in Denver at the Cherry Creek Grill (yum!). I actually had a pretty good birthday this year. It was wonderful to spend it with my family. Plus, I received so many cards, texts, e-mails, e-cards, Facebook postings, etc., from all of my friends. I felt so loved! And then, when I came back from Colorado, there were tons of dark chocolates, flowers, more cards, and a funny book waiting for me on my desk at work. I'm so blessed to have such wonderful friends, family, and co-workers. Thank you all for making this birthday possibly my best yet!

Edited to Add: My wonderful girlfriends took me out to dinner a week after my birthday. They insisted on continuing my birthday celebration--they are too sweet to me! Here is a picture of Anna, Katelyn, Sabina, me, Maria, Jessica, and Felicia at the restaurant after our yummy dinner:
